The Skwäd (Ages 6 – 12)

A custom fitness program we’ve created for children, “The Skwäd” teaches the importance of teamwork as kids grow and move on to other sports and exercise. The focus of each class is on how well your child moves, not how much or how fast. Every class is loaded with age-appropriate excitement coupled with learning the basic functional movements. We want to see your kids grow in strength and skill as well as in confidence and character, and above all have fun!

What to Expect

Our Skwäd programs help children and teens develop a positive relationship with physical activity in a safe and developmentally appropriate environment. The goal of the program is for kids to get comfortable being sweaty and out of breath, and start viewing themselves as strong, active people who are capable of mastering new skills.

Body awareness and control will be developed as our Skwäd athletes run, hang, jump, pull, skip, spin, push, hop, traverse, climb, roll, throw, stretch, swing, bounce, kick, and PLAY.

Each class lasts 45-50 minutes and offers a warm-up, skill development focus, workout and game—often the workout and the game will be a single activity.

We have filtered water available to our members. Other snacks and drinks are available for purchase.

We take all major credit cards and debit cards. We do not accept personal checks.

What kind of exercises can I expect during a workout?

Our class programming will include a strength portion in which you’ll work on something like Olympic weightlifting, deadlifting, squatting, or bodyweight strength or you may work on a skill like handstand push-ups. After the strength or skill portion of the class is complete, most days will involve a workout that was programmed for that specific day. Workouts can be anywhere between 5 to 20 minutes or more.

Do I have to stop eating my favorite foods to be healthy?

No! A healthy lifestyle has to be manageable and realistic for the long term. Do enjoy special indulgences and meals! The healthier you are, the healthier you tend to want to eat. You get hooked on feeling good, and junk food just isn’t worth it. By avoiding excessive amounts of refined carbohydrates and measuring your intake of protein, carbohydrates, and fat, you will see dramatic, measurable increases in health.
